Watford failed to make it three Championship sides in the Carling Cup Semi-Finals, after losing 2-1 at home to the holders Tottenham Hotspur, while Manchester United completed the quartet with a 5-3 crushing of Blackburn Rovers.
The Hornets went ahead through Tamas Priskin but the goal seemed to spark the visitors into life and Pavlyuchenko levelled from the penalty spot on the stoke of half time.
Darren Bent then hit the winner with just 14 minutes to go giving Spurs a one in four chance of winning the trophy again.
Carlos Tevez stole all the headlines at Old Traffird and reminded Sir Alex Ferguson just what he's capable of, scoring four of United's five goals.
His first goal came on 36 minutes, before Nani made it 2-0 four minutes later. Rovers did pull a goal back through McCarthy after the break but two more from Tevez, to complete his hat trick made it 4-1 on 54 minutes.
Matt Derbyshire and a goal in injury time gave Paul Ince's side a glimmer of hope but Tevez was on hand again to score his fourth and fire Sir Alex Ferguson's side into the Semi-Finals.
And understandably he was delighted after the final whistle:
"I am very proud to score four goals," said Tevez.
"It is the first time I have done it in my career and it is better because it came for Manchester United.
"I have not played very often, so I was looking forward to the game and I am happy with my performance."
So the Semi Final lineup is as follows: -
Burnley, Derby County, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United and the draw will take place on Saturday on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday from 12pm.
