Burnley manager Owen Coyle's fame has spread to the USA - thanks to one lifelong supporter.

To the bewilderment of 72,000 fans at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas , Clarets fan Paul Cavanagh repeatedly held up a banner reading 'Owen Coyle is God' throughout the four-and-a-half-hour Wrestlemania show.

It prompted perplexed looks from American fight fans sitting near Cavanagh, 20.

He said: "There were a few wrestling fans around me saying, 'Who the hell is Owen Coyle?'

"I came up with the idea while I was in my hotel room with my mate as recognition for how well the team have been doing this season.

"I held it up when the wrestlers were coming out and whenever the cameras were on me."

It was the first time season ticket-holder Cavanagh, who is doing a Business & Administration Apprenticeship at Burnley College, had been to Wrestlemania.

News of his new-found fame reached Coyle, who mentioned it in his programme notes for theChampionship club's last home game against Queens Park Rangers.

Cavanagh added: "My sister works for the club. She told Owen Coyle that I was responsible. He said he would like to meet me.

"It was just a laugh, really. I have thought about holding it up at Turf Moor but I won't. It was just a one-off."
