Newcastle United Legends are teaming up with former England stars for a charity match for Sir Bobby Robson's cancer charity.

The former England manager will be honoured at St James' Park on Sunday, July 26, when England lock horns with Germany in a rematch of the famous Italia 90 semi-final.

Paul Gascoigne, Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Paul Parker, Steve Hodge and Peter Shilton will be joined on Sir Bobby's team sheet by Les Ferdinand, John Beresford and Rob Lee.

Sir Bobby said: "I'm thrilled at the prospect of reuniting my 1990 England squad in support of my charity.

"It will be a pleasure to see them together again and, hopefully, this time we'll get the result we want against Germany.

"I'm very grateful to my former players who are coming up to Newcastle to raise money for my charity. I'm also very appreciative of the German players who have so much further to travel."

As well as honouring Sir Bobby, the match will raise money for The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, which has raised more than £1.2million to fight cancer since it was launched in March 2008.

Sir Bobby added: "The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is extremely important to me and I'll keep going just as long as I can to help raise money for the experts trying to find a cure for this terrible disease.

"I understand one in three of us will be diagnosed with cancer and the effects can be devastating."

Beardsley said: "Sir Bobby's a superstar. We'll do anything we can to help him out."

Tickets are £10 for adults and £5 for children. They can be purchased online at www.nufc.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk and by calling 0844 3721892.
