Reading midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson was celebrating today after being named Coca-Cola Championship Player of the Month for March.

Sigurdsson was in outstanding form in March, scoring five goals in six league games. The midfielder began his scoring streak with two goals against Bristol City and followed this by netting the winner from the penalty spot against Queens Park Rangers three days later. He continued his fine form in front of goal with a last minute winner away at Leicester City and rounded off a superb month with the Royals' only goal in the their home draw with title-chasing West Bromwich Albion.

Also shortlisted for the March award were Peter Lovenkrands of Newcastle United, Adel Taarabt of Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion's Graham Dorrans.

Steve Morison of Millwall won the award in League 1 and Neal Bishop of Notts County was given the League 2 accolade.

The decision to present the Coca-Cola Championship Player of the Month award was made by the Coca-Cola Player of the Month awards panel which includes former World Cup referee Jack Taylor, on behalf of The Football League, Steve Bates, Chairman of the Football Writers' Association, Malcolm Clarke, Chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation and Steve Watts, Marketing Assets Manager, Coca-Cola Great Britain.
