Plymouth Argyle are looking for a new Manager following the Board's decision to bring in an experienced boss, capable of leading the club back into the Championship.
Current boss Paul Marriner will remain in charge of the Pilgrims until a new appointment is made. He will then revert to the role of Head Coach, John Carver will also stay on as Assistant Manager.
Argyle Chairman Sir Roy Gardner told www.pafc.co.uk: "We are serious about taking this club forward.
"Paul was fully aware, when he took on first-team responsibilities in December, that the Board would review his position at the end of the season.
"While we could have extended his trial period in leading the team, we decided to increase the possibility of success by seeking to bring in an experienced manager to help achieve our goals.
"We will now begin the process of seeking applications and reviewing potential targets."
Mariner added: "I am disappointed that we could not produce the results we wanted last season.
"I am a realist and understand why and how the Board came to the conclusion they have done.
"I am committed to this club and want only to help it regain Championship status as soon as possible and build on that."
It is anticipated the club will have completed the recruitment process in time for pre-season.
