Former Bristol City and Celtic midfielder Evander Sno is in hospital after suffering a heart attack while playing for Ajax reserves versus Vitesse Arnhem.
The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Ashton Gate, had to be revived three times with a defibrillator after collapsing on the pitch.
Sno collapsed 18 minutes after coming on as a substitute and was treated on the pitch for 10 minutes before he came round and was then transferred to hospital by ambulance.
A statement on Ajax's official website said he was responding well to treatment, while a Bristol City spokesman said: "Evander was a popular man around Ashton Gate and everyone here wishes him a speedy recovery."
Sno made 25 appearance for the Robins last season, scoring three goals against Barnsley, Leicester City and Preston North End, three games City went on to win.
