Jamie Mackie was celebrating today after winning the September npower Championship Player of the Month award.

The livewire striker enjoyed a scintillating run of form in September scoring five goals, including doubles against both Ipswich Town and Leicester City. Mackie's impressive start to the season has also been recognized with a first call-up to the full Scotland International squad.

Mark Clemmit, member of the npower Football League Player of the Month panel commented: " Jamie Mackie has proved to be the signing of the season in the npower Football League so far. His sensational work rate has been repaid with an impressive goal haul."

Fellow panellist Peter Beagrie added : "Jamie Mackie could well turn out to be the bargain of the season. He was always a threat at Plymouth but never prolific in a struggling side. His pace, athleticism and strikers instinct has made him an instant hit with the QPR faithful and elevated him this week to international honours!"

Mackie saw off competition from Reading winger Jimmy Kebe, Watford striker Danny Graham and Burnley front man Chris Iwelumo to win the npower Championship Player of the Month trophy.

Jamie Mackie on collecting the award told www.qpr.co.uk: "It's a great personal accolade, but it's not about me, it's about the whole squad. This award is for all the lads, because it's a team game and each and every player has played their part in helping me win this award."

Sue Heritage, npower Sponsorship PR Manager commented : "As new sponsors of The Football League we are very excited to be involved in these award presentations. It's great to be able to recognize these individuals who are making the npower Football League such a success. We wish all the teams and fans the best of luck for the continuing season."
