Roy Keane has been dismissed as the Manager of Ipswich Town and the Tractor Boys have promptly named Skills Coach Ian McParland as caretaker boss for their FA Cup tie with Chelsea at the weekend.
The Tractor Boys are currently 19th in the npower Championship having suffered seven defeats in their last nine league matches and that form has ultimately cost the former Manchester United midfielder his job.
The news was revealed at an 11am press conference at Portman Road and on the announcement, Ipswich Town Chief Executive Simon Clegg told www.itfc.co.uk: "Today is a sad day for me. I have enjoyed working with Roy over the past two seasons and I would like to thank him for his tremendous dedication and professionalism during that period.
"Regrettably though, we have not made the progress that we had all expected over the last 20 months and this season in particular with the side slipping to 19th place in the Championship table."
