Crystal Palace Football Club have pledged to donate over 1,000 tickets to families and the emergency services affected by the recent civil unrest in the area.

The club is giving away free tickets to the npower Championship fixture against Blackpool on Saturday 27th August to those who were the victims of vandalism during the rioting and to the rescue team who came to the aid of those who had suffered.

In a statement on www.cpfc.co.uk the club explained: "The well-publicised civil unrest in the local area has left many families without a home and with their livelihoods ruined, and as part of the Croydon community the club feel it is only right to reach out to those who have suffered loss in one form or another.

"More than 200 homes and a number of businesses were destroyed or severely damaged by the vandalism that took place last week.

"The police, fire and ambulance services will also receive tickets as a thank you for the massive contribution that they make within the local area and the support that they gave the community during the recent trouble.

"The club realise that this is only a small gesture in the scheme of things, but want to do our part to help in our own small way."
