Nigel Spink has joined Bristol City as a goalkeeping coach until the end of the season.

The former Aston Villa keeper bolsters manager Derek McInnes' backroom team following the departure of Stuart Naylor.

McInnes told the club's official website: "Nigel brings a wealth of experience coaching at the top level.

"I feel he can bring something to the coaching team and I'm looking forward to working with him."

The 53-year-old has previously worked under Steve Bruce as goalkeeping coach at Birmingham, Wigan and Sunderland, as well as managing Forest Green for a two-year period.

He made over 460 appearances in goal for the Villans, famously making his debut as a substitute in their European Cup victory over Bayern Munich in 1982.
