Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated to the npower Championship after a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City.

The West Midlands side have been in and around the relegation places all season and their demotion was confirmed as goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri gave City all three points.

Terry Connor took over from Mick McCarthy at Molineux in January, with Wolves sitting 18th, but he was unable to arrest the club's slide and has failed to get a win whilst at the helm.

The club return to the Championship, a division they won in 2009, after three years in the top flight.
