Reading boss Brian McDermott revealed his delight at being named League Managers Association (LMA) Championship Manager of the Year.

McDermott landed the award after guiding the Royals back to the Premier League as champions.

"I'm delighted to win it, it's an honour, especially when fellow managers voted for me," he said.

"It just shows you all about how the players have done a great job, as have the staff.

"It's a sign of a job well done."

McDermott was also nominated for the overall award for LMA manager of the Year which was won by Alan Pardew.

"It was great to be nominated and nice to see an ex-Reading manager and a good friend of mine be recognised," added McDermott.
