Bristol City defender Joe Edwards has signed a new one-year contract.

The promising 21-year-old has made two appearances for City and has impressed while on loan with Stockport and Yeovil.

Manager Derek McInnes told the club website: "I liked his approach from the outset. At times he was playing out of position but he was just desperate to get games. He was driven and wanted to do well.

"When there is a feeling a player wants to be here then you are always confident a deal can be done.

"On the back of committing himself to the club, I'm sure he will have that hunger to earn a place in our first team.

"He's got it all to prove but we certainly feel he's someone we'd like to work with."
