Birmingham goalkeeping coach Dave Watson has quit the club to take up a new role with Barclays Premier League side Norwich.

The 38-year-old Yorkshireman had been offered a new contract to extend his four-and-a-half stay at St Andrew's, but Watson was keen to work in the top flight.

"I'm eternally grateful to Birmingham City for giving me the opportunity to come to the club and I'll leave with plenty of good memories," former Barnsley goalkeeper Watson told the club's official website.

"Having worked in the Premier League previously and having been involved with the England set-up during the summer, I knew that the opportunity to work in the top flight again was something that I just couldn't turn down.

"That's certainly no disrespect to the football club or the new manager, who I've known for a long time.

"Lee Clark and Peter Pannu did everything in their power to keep me at Birmingham but the lure of working back in the top flight was something I couldn't resist at this stage of my career."
