Barnsley director Don Rowing has welcomed the approach of two separate parties keen on pursuing takeover talks at Oakwell.
It has been reported one group of potential investors is prepared to provide up to £10million for team strengthening, but Rowing confirmed any possible deal is a long way off being finalised.
"We have had interest from two parties, but at this stage no concrete offer for the purchase of the football club has been made," Rowing told Press Association Sport.
He went on: "We have not been in detailed talks, but have had preliminary talks with one party.
"From my point of view, providing it's the right party that comes in and their interests are for Barnsley Football Club then I think it's an ideal opportunity to move the club forward.
"We are a stable, debt-free club and that is the culmination of a lot of hard work that has been done here over the last few years."
