There's just one Football League fixture live on Sky Sports this weekend as Ipswich Town host Cardiff City on Saturday in a 5.20pm kick-off.

It's been a contrasting season for the two sides so far as the Tractor Boys lie way down in 23rd, while the Bluebirds are flying high, sitting top of the table.

Paul Jewell's side were on their way to recording their first win in seven matches against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out but a Will Buckley strike 10 minutes from time denied them all three points.

That result had implications for Cardiff as they secured a 2-1 win against Birmingham City, which meant they replaced Brighton at the summit of the npower Championship.

Both teams will be hungry for the points from this match for very different reasons - which could make it a cracking affair.

Having been in the same division since 2003, the two clubs are certainly no strangers to one another.

In those years spent battling it out in the second tier, Ipswich comfortably have the upper hand over their Welsh opponents.

The Portman Road outfit have won 11 of the 18 meetings, while Cardiff have tasted victory just three times, with four games ending level.

You have to go way back to December 2008 to find the last time City beat the Town, when goals from Jay Bothroyd and defender Gabor Gyepes gave the Bluebirds a 2-1 victory.

They have gone head-to-head seven times since then and, in all but one of the meetings, Cardiff have been on the losing side.

Ipswich have the historical form on their side, while Cardiff have current form - the winner is anyone's guess.
