Gerardo Bruna is ready to take his chance in the Blackpool first team.

The Argentine forward has struggled to catch the eye of manager Ian Holloway since joining from Liverpool last July, making just three senior appearances.

Bruna put his failure to secure a place last season down to personal problems, but after scoring a hat-trick in a reserve match against Fleetwood on Tuesday, he is now looking for an upturn in fortunes.

He told The Blackpool Gazette: "Last season wasn't good for me. I wasn't right mentally but this season I've returned much stronger.

"Last year my life wasn't right outside of football but I'm more settled in Blackpool now. I had some problems in my family last year but they are getting better. I just want to play football for Blackpool.

"I'm training hard and hopefully the gaffer will give me a chance. I'm just working hard to get my chance. If the gaffer wants me to play, I'll be ready."
