Ipswich manager Paul Jewell is hopeful on-loan defender Danny Higginbotham will extend his stay at Portman Road.
The 33-year-old completed the temporary switch to the Suffolk club from Stoke on an initial one-month deal, but the Town boss is now hoping the npower Championship side may be able to secure his services until Christmas.
Higginbotham has made four appearances for Ipswich since the deal was signed, but has failed to make any impact on their poor league form.
Jewell told the club's official website: "We are hopeful that we will be able to keep Danny.
"He's come here to play football and he's doing that. He's enjoying it here and I've told him we want him to stay.
"We're in conversation with Stoke and we will see how things work out but we are certainly hopeful that he will be remaining with us, ideally for the maximum three months."
