Millwall loanee Mark Beevers does not feel vulnerable when playing football following the attack on his Sheffield Wednesday team-mate Chris Kirkland.

The Owls keeper was attacked by a Leeds United fan during their clash on Friday night, but centre-half Beevers, who is on an emergency loan at the New Den from the South Yorkshire club, does not feel as if his safety is under threat.

"I don't think so, not in my position anyway but possibly as a goalkeeper," he said. "You shouldn't have to think about it, things like fans running on to the pitch and doing things like that.

"It's disappointing that the main talking point (from that game) is that the man's run onto the pitch and pushed him (Kirkland) in the face.

"He'll just have to crack on. He can't think about too much and allow it to affect his game.

"I'm sure the guy who did it will get dealt with."
