Cardiff City knocked Leicester City off the top of the npower Championship with a thumping 4-0 home win over Burnley as the Foxes went down at home to Crystal Palace.

The Bluebirds got off to a flying start with Joe Mason netting after three minutes and Craig Noone adding another shortly before the break and the hosts added gloss to the scoreline late on with further efforts from Matthew Connolly and Aron Gunnarsson to go three points clear of Leicester.

Nigel Pearson's side were beaten 2-1 by managerless Crystal Palace, who showed no ill-effects from losing boss Dougie Freedman to Bolton.

Two goals in six minutes midway through the first half from Damien Delaney and Peter Ramage put the Londoners in control, with Andy King's last-minute effort no more than a consolation.

Lee Chung-yong put struggling Bolton Wanderers ahead against Middlesbrough in the 42nd minute, but a brace from substitute Scott McDonald, in the 67th and 85th minutes, turned the match around.

Blackburn Rovers, still without a manager, kept their promotion bid on track with a 1-0 victory at home to Watford, but they had to wait until the second minute of injury time for Jordan Rhodes' winner.

Nottingham Forest moved into the Play-Off places thanks to a 4-1 win at Barnsley, while Wolverhampton Wanderers dropped back to seventh as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Charlton Athletic.

At the other end of the table, Sheffield Wednesday added to fellow strugglers Ipswich Town's troubles with a 3-0 win at Portman Road. Ross Barkley scored early in each half for the Owls with Michail Antonio adding a third late on.

Millwall hammered Huddersfield Town 4-0, Chris Wood's brace setting them on their way and struggling Peterborough United were also comfortable winners, dispatching Derby County 3-0.

Blackpool drew 1-1 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, Elliot Grandin scoring 18 minutes from time following Ashley Barnes' opener for the visitors, while Leroy Lita's goal earned Birmingham City a 1-0 success at Leeds United.
