Millwall have signed defender Adam Smith on a three-month loan-deal.

The Tottenham right-back is expected to be handed his debut at the weekend against Nottingham Forest as both Jack Smith and Alan Dunne are out injured. The England Under-21 international has made two first-team appearances for Spurs and had loan spells at Wycombe, Torquay, Bournemouth and MK Dons.

"Adam is a player I have been following for some time," said Lions boss Kenny Jackett.

He added: "He's a very promising young full-back and with both Jack and Alan unavailable for Saturday this was an opportunity to bring Adam in to fill that gap in the short-term and hopefully for him to get more first team experience over the next couple of months with us."

Meanwhile, Lions midfielder Jimmy Abdou has agreed terms on a new deal that will keep him at the Den until 2015.

The 28-year-old Comoros international signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal ahead of the club's trip to Nottingham Forest.

Abdou arrived at Millwall from Plymouth in 2008 and has gone on to make 190 appearances and scored five goals.

The French-born midfielder has made 13 appearances for the Lions so far this campaign.
