Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray has been handed the npower Championship Manager of the Month award for October.

With four wins and a draw achieved from their five October fixtures, Tony Mowbray enjoyed a fantastic month and has Middlesbrough fans beginning to dream of a return to the top flight. With their great form in the league also supported by a fine cup run, Mowbray has Boro well in the ascendancy.

Speaking about Mowbray's win, panel member Alan Curbishley commented: "It's been a fantastic month for Mowbray's men resulting in Middlesbrough now occupying an automatic promotion place in the npower Championship.

"Their league form has also coincided with a great run in the Capital One Cup where they are now in the quarter-finals."
