Derby County got back to winning ways in the Saturday tea-time game against Birmingham City, recording a 3-2 victory, with Conor Sammon scoring twice for six points. The former Wigan striker was the top scoring player in the Game Week as he twice put the Rams ahead, while team-mate Michael Jacobs set up two goals for four points.

Cardiff City returned to the npower Championship summit thanks to a 2-1 win at Barnsley. Midfielder Peter Whittingham also grabbed four points as he assisted both goals for the new league leaders. High-flying Middlesbrough suffered a shock home defeat to Bristol City, thanks partly to a goal and an assist from Albert Adomah, while previous table-toppers Crystal Palace were defeated at Leeds United with Luciano Becchio adding to his tally.

Leicester City closed the gap on the teams above them after a two-goal victory at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday. Ben Marshall assisted the first half Danny Drinkwater opener before scoring the second himself, for five points.

Hull City were another in-form team to taste defeat as Burnley won at the KC Stadium. Dean Marney scored the only goal and the Clarets back-line kept a rare clean sheet. Meanwhile, Millwall recorded an impressive win at Blackburn Rovers, Chris Wood continuing his good recent form by scoring a goal to take three points in their 2-0 win.
