Derby should find out by Thursday how long they will be without the services of Jake Buxton.

The County defender is awaiting scan results on the suspected knee ligament damage he suffered in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Leeds, having consulted a specialist earlier in the week.

The npower Championship club expect Buxton to be out at least until the New Year, which leaves boss Nigel Clough with a lack of defensive cover as captain Shaun Barker has been ruled out for the season also with a knee injury.

Buxton has made 14 appearances for the Rams this campaign, scoring in the win against Leeds.
