Millwall boss Kenny Jackett does not expect club captain Paul Robinson to play again this season.

The defender underwent a hernia operation in the summer but managed only three appearances in September before eventually going to America for further groin surgery.

"His progression is good but I'm not expecting him to come back this season," said Jackett.

"I think he needs to have a good pre-season and go on from there. But if I'm pleasantly surprised then fantastic.

"He's out and moving well, which is good."

Danny Shittu has shone since taking the captain's armband in Robinson's absence, which could give Jackett a dilemma next term.

"That would be a nice problem to have," added Jackett.

"I originally signed Danny to play with Paul. You can't have enough leaders around."
