Burnley's top scorer Charlie Austin could miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to have his appendix removed.

The 28-goal striker was diagnosed with appendicitis after complaining of feeling unwell during training on Monday and had an operation on Tuesday morning which is likely to rule him out of the Clarets' remaining four npower Championship games.

Austin will not be involved when Sean Dyche's men take on Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
