Cardiff City have secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history, following a 0-0 draw against Charlton Athletic.

Bluebirds goalkeeper David Marshall pulled off several key saves at the Cardiff City Stadium to ensure his side obtained the point necessary against the Addicks - that result left Cardiff 13 points above third-placed Watford with just three games remaining.

The Bluebirds have missed out on promotion from the Championship in the last three seasons, having lost out in the Play-Offs on each occassion, but Tuesday night was finally the time for the Welsh club to celebrate, and rise to the top flight of English football for the first time in 51 years.

Malky Mackay's men will now turn their attentions to securing the league title - they currently lead Hull City, who are second, by seven points.
