Midfielder David Jones has signed a three-year deal with Burnley after impressing during pre-season.
The free agent, 28, has been training with the Clarets following his release from Wigan at the end of last season and appeared in four friendlies for Sean Dyche's men.
Jones is no stranger to the area having started his career at Manchester United before featuring for Preston, Wigan and Blackburn, and Dyche believes his familiarity with the region was crucial in his decision to choose Burnley.
Dyche told the club's official website: "David is a very good footballer and someone who has good pedigree, coming from Manchester United.
"At Wigan he was almost a part of something, but here he thinks he can really do something, as do we, and mould himself into a really good footballer here at Burnley.
"There were a few clubs in for David, but he wanted to get a feel for us and geographically, he is not a million miles away, so that helped.
"He came in a couple of weeks late, but he is a very fit lad and we managed to accelerate him into the group, so we are looking forward to how he progresses here."
