Brighton captain Gordon Greer has put pen to paper on a new contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

The 32-year-old former Swindon defender, who skippered Albion to the League One title in 2011, recently received international recognition; being named in Gordon Strachan's last two Scotland squads.

Albion head coach Oscar Garcia admitted holding onto Greer was one of his priorities.

"One of my targets when I arrived here was to keep Gordon here because he is the captain and he's a leader," he told the club's official website.

"For me, he is very important this season."
