Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of defender Jack Hunt from Huddersfield on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old came through the Terriers youth system and impressed in the Championship last season.

Hunt is set to add much-needed cover for Ian Holloway's side, who recorded their first Barclays Premier League win on Saturday by beating Sunderland 3-1 at Selhurst Park.

Holloway has not been slow in strengthening the squad since winning promotion against Watford at Wembley, with Reading winger Jimmy Kebe becoming the Eagles' 11th summer signing at the weekend.

Royals defender Adrian Mariappa is reported to be on the verge of completing his transfer to south-east London, while Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner is another linked, although the Denmark striker's wage demands could yet be an issue.

Speaking after the win over Sunderland, Holloway remained confident of further additions.

He said: ''We are going to smash some things and the chairman and the other directors really want to have a go.

''Just because we haven't done it yet, it just takes time to get people you want, but I'm sure any player watching that (win over Sunderland) might not quite think we are also-rans.

"It takes a really big squad in this division to have a chance so hopefully we can add four or maybe five by Monday."
