Watford have been fined £5000 by the Football Association after admitting a charge of misconduct.

The Hornets were accused of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour against Ipswich on December 21.

Several Hornets players surrounded referee Graham Scott after he judged that Frank Nouble's cross had been handled in the penalty area by defender Gabriele Angella, with Joel Ekstrand booked for his protests.

David McGoldrick tucked away the 73rd-minute spot-kick but the game, new Hornets head coach Giuseppe Sannino's first match at the helm having taken over from Gianfranco Zola, finished 1-1.

The FA confirmed the punishment on its website on Tuesday afternoon.
