Ben Marshall faces an anxious wait after Blackburn Rovers revealed the midfielder will get a second scan on an ankle injury.

The midfielder was taken off on a stretcher in the 1-1 draw with Derby on Saturday after his studs were caught in the turf during the first-half at Ewood Park.

Rovers sent the 22-year-old for a scan on Sunday but are still unsure of the exact diagnosis, and will take another look at the injury later this week.

Boss Gary Bowyer said: "He had a scan and he has got to have it re-scanned later on in the week.

"Like I said at the time, it probably looks like it will be a little bit longer than a couple of weeks that is for sure.

"The lad is obviously gutted with the injury because he was playing the best football of his life, but if anybody knows Marshy you can't keep him quiet for a while.

"He's buoyant straight away and that helps with his rehab already."
