Brighton and Hove Albion have signed striker David Rodriguez on a free transfer from Celta Vigo.

The 27-year-old Spaniard cancelled his contract with Celta on Thursday and has agreed a deal with the Seagulls until the end of the season.

Brighton boss Oscar Garcia told the club website: "We wanted to add more competition to our striking options and David will bring that.

"He's shown throughout his career he is capable of scoring goals. He can play in all attacking positions.

"The challenge for him now is to push for a place in the team and prove between now and the end of the season he is worth a longer-term deal with the club."

Rodriguez will be available for Sunday's trip to Watford if international clearance arrives in time.
