Barnsley have appointed former Wales international Mark Crossley as the club's new goalkeeping coach.

The 44-year-old former Nottingham Forest keeper has replaced Ian Willcock, who was sacked from the role last week on the same day former assistant boss Micky Mellon left the club.

Crossley, born and raised in Barnsley, made his name as a player with Forest, where he made over 300 appearances after being handed his senior debut by Brian Clough.

Nicknamed 'Big Norm', he also had spells at Middlesbrough, Fulham, Sheffield Wednesday and Oldham during a 24-year playing career.

He made eight appearances for Wales and had a spell as caretaker-boss at Chesterfield in 2012. He had previously worked as goalkeeping coach at Sheffield Wednesday.
