Millwall goalkeeper David Forde has signed a new three-year contract.

The 34-year-old Republic of Ireland international could have left the Den for nothing this summer and had previously been linked with a move to Celtic.

But Forde, the Lions' player of the year last season, has opted to commit his future to the south London club.

"I'm absolutely delighted," he told the club website.

"I suppose it's been an ongoing saga. Because of where the club was towards the end of the season, with the new manager (Ian Holloway) coming in, it was a bit prolonged.

"I'm chuffed that we've managed to get it sorted and it's great to be signed. Going forward I think we can be really successful."
