Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has signed a new three-year deal at the Goldsands Stadium.

The 25-year-old had been linked with moves away from the south coast after catching the eye last season but manager Eddie Howe moved to secure the services of one of his key players.

"I wanted something to happen because there was quite a lot of uncertainty during the summer," Cook told the club's official website. " I had a chat with the gaffer, my parents came down and that's what made my mind up.

"I've been here for nearly three years now and it's my home.

"I've loved my time here so far. We had such a good season last season and I would have kicked myself if I had moved on and Bournemouth had another good one.

"This is an unfinished project for me. I said at the end of last season that I want to be in the Premier League with this club and these lads. I've got another three years here, hopefully we can progress and make that next step.

"You look at the players coming in and it's not a club that's standing still. I can see it becoming a Premier League club in the not too distant future."
