Middlesbrough have confirmed they have reached agreement with Real Murcia to sign striker Enrique García.

Garcia, 24, also known as Kike, is expected to put pen to paper on his contract this week in Marbella, where he has joined up with the Boro squad at their summer training camp.

Former Spain Under-20 international Kike has scored a total of 48 goals in 150 league appearances for Murcia. He notched 23 goals last season to help the Spanish club finish fourth in the Segunda Liga.

A brief Boro statement read: "An agreement has been reached between the two clubs, and the player.

"The deal is expected to be completed early next week subject to a successful medical and international clearance."

Kike will become Middlesbrough's second summer signing following the arrival of fellow Spaniard and former Real Madrid goalkeeper Tomas Mejias earlier this month.
