Nottingham Forest have signed winger Chris Burke on a free transfer following his departure from Sky Bet Championship rivals Birmingham.

Burke, 30, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal after leaving Blues, for whom he made over 150 appearances during a three-year stay at St Andrew's.

Forest almost signed the Scot during Alex McLeish's brief tenure as manager - with their failure to do so one of the reasons why the former Rangers boss ultimately walked away from the City Ground.

Reds owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi said via his Twitter account: "His experience and ability are attributes that will benefit us."
