Millwall have signed defender Matthew Briggs on a one-year contract.

Briggs has been on trial with the Lions this summer, playing in the club's pre-season friendlies against Dartford and Stevenage last month, and the left-back becomes manager Ian Holloway's sixth summer signing

The 23-year-old came through Fulham's youth ranks before making his debut for the Cottagers in May 2007. Since then the London-born defender has enjoyed loan spells at Leyton Orient, Peterborough United, Bristol City and Watford.

He also made a further 28 appearances for Fulham before his contract with the club expired in June.
