Derby County are set to find out whether Jeff Hendrick requires surgery on his injured shoulder.

Hendrick is booked in to see a specialist on Wednesday who will assess the joint he dislocated during the Rams' Sky Bet Championship draw with Ipswich Town at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.

It remains unclear how long the 22-year-old midfielder will be out of action.

"Jeff went straight to hospital on Saturday and had the shoulder put back in," said Derby first-team coach Paul Simpson.

"He had a scan on Monday and we're taking him to see a specialist on Wednesday to find out if it's a straightforward rehab or whether there's some sort of surgery required.

"Until we see the results, we don't really know where we are with that one."

Hendrick has started all seven of Derby's matches so far this season, scoring in the club's first two matches as the Rams defeated Rotherham and Carlisle.
