Missdorothy.com is a learning programme, delivered by The Kids Taskforce, which helps children learn how to manage risk and lead safer lives. The learning programme for primary and secondary school pupils takes a holistic approach to being safe and helps children and young people to develop the skills to handle risk in all forms. Missdorothy.com aims to prevent children coming to harm and to give them the tools to deal with risky situations.
The missdorothy.com programme provides each participating child with their own personal workbook and many schools also allow the children to take the materials home, adding the advantage of reaching parents with the vital messages. Supported by the government - and other key agencies including the Police and Fire Brigades - the Kids Taskforce aims to deliver the programme to every child aged 7-16 in the UK by 2010.
After the successful delivery of the missdorothy.com programme at a number of Football League Clubs across England (including Charlton Athletic, Brentford, Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tranmere Rovers, Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City), The Football League Trust committed to fund the roll out of the programme to other Football League clubs.
The missdorothy.com programme requires one co-coordinator, based within the Football Club community scheme, who organises multi-agency training for all the schools and then supports teachers in delivery.
