Name: Nicky Forster
Date of birth: 8/9/1973
Club: Brighton & Hove Albion
Position: Striker

What car do you drive?
An X-Type Jaguar.

First car?
A 1989 lime green Vauxhall Cavalier. It cost me £800 when I was 17. It gave me my independence and meant I didn't have to ask to borrow my mum and dad's car.

Favourite Film?
When I was growing up it was Top Gun. It was on a few nights ago and I sat up and watched it again. Now, my favourite is Gladiator, which takes some beating.

Favourite TV programme?
Only Fools and Horses. But I don't watch a lot of telly these days. The older I get, the more I read.

Favourite band or artist?
I'm an 80's boy. Depeche Mode were the band I followed a lot.

Most expensive item you've bought?
After my house and car, my wife's engagement ring. It cost over £5,000, which was quite extravagant but the plan is only to get married once.

Do you do DIY?
I will have a go at most things. I'm pretty able in that respect. The only thing I never knew anything about was electrics, so I did a three-year course when I was at Reading and qualified to be an electrician. I thought it would be good to get it under my belt. I never put it into practice, apart from at home. At the moment I'm in the fortunate position not to have to fall back on it yet.

Perfect woman - apart from wife/girlfriend?
I would have to take a few things from different women. I don't think there is such a thing as a perfect woman. I admire strong women like Madonna, who has been at the top of her game for years. JK Rowling is similar, a woman who has not come from much but made a success of herself. The stereotypical man's dream, such as Angelina Jolie, don't do a huge amount for me. I've always thought Jennifer Aniston is a very pretty woman. I don't know why Brad Pitt dumped her for Jolie.

The lads are over for dinner, what do you cook?
I'm a great lover of Italian food so I would do spaghetti bolognese. I have cooked for the players on a few occasions but at the moment there are a lot of younger players who are single and they prefer to socialise at bars.

If you were the manager of the club, who would you sign?
You need pace to scare defences and at Brighton we do lack a bit of pace at times going forward. The best in the world at running at defences is Cristiano Ronaldo, so it would be him.

Best mate in football?
Ady Williams. We played at Reading for six years and we have remained friends. He is now a first-team coach at Swindon Town and is looking to be a manager himself one day. I don't know if he could afford to buy me! Although I would imagine he would be looking for younger players.

Room-mate on tour?
Tommy Elphick, one of the younger lads. He is quiet, with a good sense of humour. A big part of being a good room-mate is having similar sleeping patterns. If one of you goes to bed at 10pm and gets up at 6am and the other goes to bed at midnight and gets up at 9am, it can be annoying for both of you. Luckily, our sleeping patterns are similar and our habits are similar.

Do you play golf?
I'm not a golfer. I've not got the patience. I would have a good round and one bad hole and all I would be thinking about was the bad hole.

If you weren't a footballer, what would you be doing?
I was toying with the idea of going into architecture or building design.

Most embarrassing moment in football?
When I was younger I scored a goal and jumped up on to a wall to celebrate with the fans. One of my team-mates came from behind and whipped my shorts down. At the time, I was wearing a jock strap so I was a little bit more exposed than players are nowadays.

Best stadium you've played at?
I love Molineux, not so much the stadium itself, but the noise of the crowd. Portsmouth is good, too, and Stoke City when the players run out to Delilah. Upton Park is another one. You can sense the tradition and history.

Life after football?
The older I get the more I realise I would like to stay in the game. I've starting my coaching badges and I'm taking my 'B' licence at the moment. There are thousands of people qualified to coach in professional football but only hundreds of jobs.

Interesting fact we don't know about you?
I'm a massive cycling fan and have done a couple of 100-mile bike rides in a single day around Kent, which takes some doing.

Best freebie you've ever had?
I'm not really one for being on the ponce. The agent got me tickets to see Billy Connolly Live. That was a fantastic night. I couldn't have asked for anything better than that.
