One Night Only bassist Dan Parkin has a wish list which he hopes can be fulfilled by some of the proceeds of the band's next single.

The Sheffield United supporter knows his team need a defender and hopes the August release of their single Say You Don't Want It - featuring Harry Potter star Emma Watson in the video - will provide him with the cash to help out United Manager Kevin Blackwell in the transfer market.

Parkin, 22, said: "That would be brilliant to do what other fans like Sean Bean is supposed to have done with United.

"I don't know how many sales it would take, but it would be quite a few. Because first of all we have to pay the record company, then there are the six mansions I would buy, the hordes of beautiful women...

"But I can dream of it."

Parkin started supporting the Blades thanks to his father. But he was so young when he went to his first game that he cannot remember who was playing!

He added: "I didn't really have a choice. It's not like a political party, where you can make up your own mind.

"My Dad has never explained the reasons why he started supporting United. But because he did, I did, too.

"My mother once threatened to support Sheffield Wednesday just because she got so sick of hearing about United in the house.

"But she is not that into football, so the threat only lasted about two games."

Parkin's hopes for the new season are simple: to do better than last year.

He added: "It shows how disappointing last season was when the highlight was Wednesday going down. We just didn't put a run together.

"I remember one game in particular, Barnsley at home. It was one of the worst games of football I have ever seen.

"It was a 0-0 draw and it seemed as if both teams were seeing how high they could kick the ball in the air. It was terrible.

"I'd like to see us play a bit more, and I think we'd be in with a shout of promotion. But if we are top at Christmas, I still wouldn't back us to go up.

"It would just make the rest of the season excruciating."

On the first meeting with Potter star Watson, Parkin said she was "really down to earth."

But the band had to have a sitdown before they met her to remind themselves over and over that her name is Emma, not Hermione!

Parkin said: "None of us slipped up, which was just as well. The little chat we had before meeting Emma paid dividends."

One Night Only release 'Say You Don't Want It', the first single from their forthcoming second album, through Vertigo Records on August 16. The album, yet to be titled, follows on August 23. Preorder the album here.
