Who was your childhood hero?
Former England and Manchester United midfielder Bryan Robson, aka Captain Marvel.

When did you realise you had a chance to progress in the game?
Not until I signed my first professional contract really. Before then there were people saying how good or bad you were. When I put pen to paper I knew I had a chance to make a career as a footballer.

Which coach has had the biggest influence on your career?
Dario Gradi when I was at Crewe Alexandra. The way he coached and the way he wanted his teams to play will stick with me forever.

What did you spend your first wage packet on?
A new pair of trainers and a jacket.

Does your squad number have a special meaning to you?
I wear number six. It's the number I associate with a centre-half.

Who did you last swap shirts with?
Michael Jacobs. He left Northampton in the summer and moved to Derby. He is someone who I think will have a very good future.

How has the game changed for the better since you became a pro?
Players are a lot fitter.

If you could have coached yourself when you were a teenager, what advice would you have passed on?
Always listen to what you are told and take it in.

If you stay in the game at the end of your career, what will you do? a) Manager b) Coach c) Scout d) Physio e) Pundit?

What do you want to be best remembered for at the end of your career?
A good defender, for the level I played at, who managed to pass the test of time and amassed a good number of appearances.
