Wolverhampton Wanderers have won the Family Club of the Year for the Championship at the 2009 Football League Awards incorporating FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players.

The club received the award at a gala dinner at Grosvenor House, Park Lane on Sunday evening in front of more than 800 attendees from clubs, sponsors and the football industry.

Wolverhampton Wanderers offered a range of initiatives covering special family pricing structures under the umbrella of 'Wolves 4 Family Football'; safety initiatives, ticket giveaways to junior fans, family-specific activities, and a special commitment to The Football League's 'Enjoy the Match' campaign.

The judges in this category commented that Wolverhampton Wanderers offered "an innovative approach to provide very good family entertainment in a safe environment."

Norwich City was Highly Commended by the judging panel for this category who were impressed by their all round approach to offering affordable family football. Southend United were named the Family Club of the Year for League 1, with Shrewsbury Town taking the title for League 2.
