Dario Gradi MBE has been honoured with the Contribution to League Football Award at the 2011 Football League Awards.

The 'Contribution to League Football' Award is presented annually by the Board of The Football League to an individual that has given a lifetime's service to the professional game.

On winning the award, Gradi said, "It was a surprise to get this award and I certainly didn't expect it but it is lovely to get such an honour. It has been great to develop the Academy at Crewe, I am a coach, I enjoy the challenge of working with footballers and then seeing the finished product. It is called the 'lifetime' award, well it has been a strange night but I have thoroughly enjoyed it."
