There was a derby match with a difference when the Ipswich Town Community Trust Ability Counts team took on Norwich City's Social Inclusion side.
The seven-a-side game, which Norwich won 2-0, was aimed at getting adults with mental health issues involved with football.
Town's Ability Counts team were made up of patients from St Clements hospital in Ipswich.
They had been training with Community coaches after a programme was set up between the club and Suffolk Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
St Clements Technical Instructor Mark Beardmore said: "Physical exercise is a great way for those who suffer from mental health problems to develop their confidence.
"Playing football over the past few weeks has helped the patients bond, and the difference is amazing.
"There were a lot of nerves before the big match, but everyone really enjoyed the day."
Ability Counts Development Officer Tom Nicholas added: "Although we lost, the experience of playing has been a major part of the lads' rehabilitation.
"Being part of a team - and the camaraderie and support that comes with it - gives every player a sense of belonging and increases their self-confidence."
Football League Trust Regional Manager Greg Baker said: "The derby match got people involved with football who might not normally play.
"It's a fantastic idea. We're looking forward to seeing a repeat fixture in the near future!"
