AFC Bournemouth Head of Youth Joe Roach is seeing his hard work pay off at Dean Court.

Six of the current first team squad have come through the ranks at the Cherries, in addition to Sam Vokes, who signed last year for Premiership side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ryan Pryce, Josh McQuoid, Joe Partington, Brett Pitman, George Webb and Steve Hutchings have all turned out for the League 2 side.

Roach said: "The lads have progressed really well and are all performing. It's great to see.

"I can't imagine there are many other Football League clubs where such a large proportion of the first team squad have come through the Youth team."

Under the current regime, youngsters at the South Coast club spend one and a half days per week in class at Brockenhurst College.

The Under-18 side also use the college training facilities for sessions with Roach and assistant Matt Holmes.

Roach said: "The staff at Brockenhurst have been phenomenal.

"Principal Di Roberts and her colleague Neil Flanagan have been instrumental in establishing the partnership.

"They've really taken care of the lads and are vital to the success of the Youth team."

Roach is also confident the club is in secure hands after the takeover by the Murry Group.

He said: "We've met with Chairman Jeff Mostyn and Vice Chairman Steve Sly and they are very pleased with the Youth set up.

"It's very encouraging to hear that we've got the full support of the owners.

"Hopefully we can continue to provide quality players for the first team and get Bournemouth moving up the League."
