Oldham Athletic's very own Rokib Miah, 19, has seen off hundreds of competitors to win a place on Wayne Rooney's Street Striker television show.
A group of six youngsters from the Coldhurst ward of Oldham took park in auditions at Manchester City Centre where they were tested on their skills in order to be selected as one of a 100 from the thousands of people, who initially auditioned for the show.
Rokib, a former participant in Oldham Athletic's Kickz project and has developed from a participant and volunteer to a member of the Latics Community Scheme's coaching staff.
Even though Rokib was the only one from the group of lads from Oldham to go through on the day, two others Jabed Rokib (17) and Anwar Miah (19) travelled to Birmingham and were rewarded for their dedication and qualified through to the next stage also.
Speaking of the event and his success, Oldham's Street Striker Rokib said: "I'm really excited, it's been really good fun and I've enjoyed every moment of it and hopefully I'm going to go all the way."
On August 10 the Sky 1 film crew will be present at the Kickz session in Coldhurst filming Rokib in action whilst he's at work. He will be then required to do further filming at a secret location with England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney.
James Mwale, Oldham Athletics Kickz and Inclusion Co-ordinator added: "I was very proud to hear the phone call from the lads that Rokib had made it through to the next stage. I know the others were disappointed in not making it at Manchester but they showed great determination to go to Birmingham and finally succeed.
"It's a pleasure to have seen Rokib's progression from a participant through to a valued member of staff, he's truly an inspiration to his peers."
