The Zesh Rehman Foundation has expanded its educational programmes to Manchester following a successful trial in Bradford.

Launched in May 2010 by the former QPR and Bradford City defender, the Foundation aims to harness the power of football to ensure young people of all ethnicities and backgrounds have the capacity to enter the football industry.

And positive results from schools around Bradford have lead to the Foundation taking its 'Primary Kick About' programme to KD Grammar School where Rehman spoke to students about his challenges and experiences in football.

"It's important to educate the next generation," explained the 27-year-old who last month signed for Thai Premier League Champions Muangthong United.

"If I can inspire one or two to get involved in football at any level of the game will be a success to me. Football not only helps you to stay fit and healthy but it can also take you all over the world."

Designed as a bespoke programme for the Zesh Rehman Foundation, Primary Kick About provides a series of sessions that combine both theoretical football knowledge with the game's practical skills and tactics.

The programme's ultimate aim is to provide an excellent learning experience for all participants, which shows progression and rewards all children with success.

"The school is honoured to be working with Zesh and his foundation," added Mr Mahomed Sattar, who is the Acting Head Teacher at KD Grammar School.

"Zesh is clearly an excellent role model for youngsters everywhere as he is a successful leader, a champion, a trailblazer and a wonderful reminder for everyone that in order to be successful one has to work incessantly and consistently.

"We look forward to working with his Foundation in preparing tomorrow's leaders for every sphere as his ideas can be applied to leadership generally."

Despite his move to Thailand, Rehman confirmed that his Foundation would continue making a difference to people's lives through education.

"No matter where I am playing my football," added the ex-Pakistan captain, "the Foundation will continue.

"I have an excellent team behind me who will carry the foundation forward. We have given students the opportunities to excel, gain FA coaching qualifications, coach and experience behind the scenes at football clubs."
